About Takema

With an impassioned mission to alchemize imaginable circumstances into actionable change, Takema Robinson has dedicated over two decades to impactful storytelling, creative productions, and cultural advocacy. Her service and impact have been catalytic in growing nationwide awareness around social injustices that affect Black communities and others. Her notable work through the Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens Case led to a victory verdict in 2024, further amplifying the national conversation on the impact of Stand Your Ground Laws in a racially divided nation. Beyond the verdict, Takema co-founded  the “Standing in the Gap Fund,” with AJ’s mother, Pamela Dias. The Fund responds to the trauma of race-based violence to ease financial burdens and support healing.

A fervent advocate for healing through art and culture, Takema established High Cotton Production as a means to convey the heartfelt stories of those directly impacted by injustice. In partnership with Message Pictures, Soledad O’brien Productions, and Park Pictures  High Cotton Production Executive Produced, “The Perfect Neighbor,” which premiered and won Best Director US Documentary at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. This powerful film highlights “AJ’s Story” and delves into the severe implications of Stand Your Ground laws, sparking vital on racial violence in America.

Since 2016, her work leading Converge Consulting has directed $100 billion in philanthropic investments to pivotal movement and racial justice organizations. A respected curator and educator, Robinson has enriched cultural dialogues through her work with iconic institutions and initiatives that underscore Black culture and justice. Robinson’s voice and vision continue to inspire transformative approaches to justice, healing and culture.
